THE HISTORIAN ADIDAS, THE BEGINNING OF SUCCESS, THE MAKING OF ADIDAS

Adidas FG is a German sports accessories manufacturer and parent company of Adidas group which consist of rebook Reebok sportswear company, Taylor Made-Adidas Golf Company including Ashworth, and Rockport. Apart from producing footwear, the company also engages in the production of bags, clothes, perfume, watches, eye wear and other sporting accessories. The company is the largest producer of sporting products in the whole of Europe and the second largest in the world. The historian Adidas was founded by Adolph Ati Dassler in the year 1948 and registered in the year 1949 following the split between the brothers.

THE MAKING OF A BUSINESS TYCOON

Christoph von Wilhelm Dassler was a worker in a shoe factory and his wife operated a laundry 20km outside the city. After graduation their son Rudolph Dassler joined his father at the shoe factory and after world war one, he was given a managerial position at a porcelain factory and later in a leather wholesale business in Nuremberg.

THE BEGINNING OF SUCCESS

The historian Adidas began early that year after the World War 1 Rudolph started to make his own shoe in his mother’s kitchen and later that year, he moved to Herzogenaurach to join his brother and together they formed a business empire called the Dassler brothers shoe factory. During their expansion from their mothers wash kitchen to mass production, electricity became unreliable in the city and sometimes they had to use manual methods to produce electricity to power their machines.

THEIR BREAKTHROUGH

During the 1936 summer Olympics, Rudolph Dassler traveled Bavaria to Olympics village on one of Olympics finest road with his bag full of shoes to market. In other to get more attention he had to convince the Olympics sprinter Jesse Owens to wear the shoe for he was the first sponsored African American to the Olympic Games. Following Owens incredible success of 4 Olympic gold medals further cemented, improved, and elevated the good reputation of the Dassler shoes. Letters came from around the world requesting for supplies of goods for their football teams and business was great for the Dassler brothers that they sold a whooping number of 200,000 shoes per annum, they expanded, made a lot of profit and they were happy until world war 2 then they had to face their greatest temptation which resulted into splitting the business.
